Our Learn to Swim Program

Our Learn to Swim program is the product of extensive experience and dedication in the field of aquatic education. Our friendly staff have a wide range of experience in the swimming industry and this, combined with continuous training and professional development means that all of our classes are conducted at the highest level. We believe that water safety and good swimming technique are part of the same journey.

Through learning correct technique, swimmers develop love and respect for water, paramount to lifelong safety and fun in all aquatic environments. Generally, most of our lessons run for half an hour with the exception of our higher levels, Autonomy and flippers, swimming from 50 minutes to an hour.

Pre-Kindergarten

Pre-Kindergarten

Classes are designed for children aged 2.5 - 3.5 years, there are 3 levels in our Pre-Kindergarten program:

 

  • Pre-Kindergarten Confidence - This class is for unconfident beginners, with no basic swimming skills. Parents are not in the water with the children for this class.
  • Pre-Kindergarten Overcoming Fear - This class is for children who are not quite confident with the water yet. 
  • Pre-Kindergarten Self Awareness - Confident in water with basic swimming skills working towards learning their freestyle arms
Kindergarten

Kindergarten

Classes are designed for children aged 3.5 - 5.0 years, there are 6 levels in our Kindergarten program:

  • Kindergarten Confidence - This class is for unconfident beginners, with no basic swimming skills.
    Parents are not in the water with the children for this class.
  • Kindergarten Overcoming Fear - This class is for children who are not quite confident with the water yet. 
  • Kindergarten Self Awareness - Confident in water with basic swimming skills working towards learning their freestyle arms.
  • Kindergarten Determination - Confident with basic freestyle skills and starting to learn side breathing.
  • Kindergarten Independence - Confident with basic freestyle skills still need help with continual strokes. Starting to put together the whole stroke.
  • Kindergarten Perseverance - Can swim a short distance freestyle with the introduction of backstroke skills
Developing

Developing

Classes are designed for school aged children, who are still developing thier swimming skills. There are 4 levels in our Developing program:

  • Confidence - This class is for unconfident beginners, with no basic swimming skills.
  • Self Awareness - Confident in water with basic swimming skills working towards learning their freestyle arms.
  • Determination - Confident with basic freestyle skills and starting to learn side breathing.
  • Independence - Confident with basic freestyle skills still need help with continual strokes. Starting to put together the whole stroke.
Strengthening

Strengthening

Classes are designed for school aged children, who have developed basic swimming skills and are now strengthening them. There are 3 levels in our Strengthening program:

 

  • Perseverance - Can swim a short distance freestyle with the introduction of backstroke skills.

 

  • Diligence - Able to swim 25 meteres Freestyle and Backstroke. Starting to learn Breaststroke skills arms and kicking.

 

  • Resilience -Can swim continuous 50 meters Freestyle and Backstroke. Ready to co-ordinate breaststroke. Learning bi-lateral breathing.
Squad

Squad

Classes are designed for school aged children, who have developed basic swimming skills and are now strengthening them. There are 2 squad programs:

 

  • Autonomy -Swimmers in this group must be able to swim continuously 200m Freestyle and Backstroke with a good basic skills in Breaststroke.

 

  • Flippers - Flippers is a 1 hour lesson that prepares children for the transition into a basic swimming squad.
    Children are able to swim all 4 strokes and are learning speed and endurance needed for Squad training.

 

What to Bring Checklist

  • Towel for all swimmers

  • LTSV ID Card (Please see reception if you dont have one)

  • Water bottle

  • Healthy snack/food (little ones will be hungry after all their exercise)
